  1. They are clotheslines. Nothing gets your towels dry and fresh smelling quicker than doing 300mph at 20,000 feet.

  2. Aesthetically-speaking, no. Which goes for all of the cast. They've all got this 'offness' about them. Not unattractive but not beautiful either.

  3. Am curious, in New Zealand, what happens, if say, a child of Jehovah's Witnesses needs a life-saving blood transfusion and the parents refuse?

  4. I'd like to hear from atheist Mãori about how they feel about karakia.

  5. Do these bars have a roster. "Hey Billy-Bob! I can't eyeball people this Thursday, can I swap you for Friday?"

  6. Super interesting article from Stuff (for a change) - a very good read:

  7. If I'm not mistaken, one thing the Stuff article doesn't examine, is the actual flying altitude of the Eagle. My understanding is that Eagle is not permitted to fly below a certain altitude (to minimise noise). I've seen plenty of social media posts from people complaining Eagle flies too low.

  8. Towards the end, yes, but the beginning to middle of the war had trenches that looked just like this, and many that looked worse. It had to get real shitty for them to make the improvements you listed.

  9. Expanding on your points, I think there's an element of wishful-thinking by forces when they initially dig-in and entrench. 'No, this is only a temporary halt to our advance, we don't need to invest in making our trenches more inhabitable. And besides, we don't want our soldiers getting too comfortable and wanting to stay put.'

  10. I live in New Zealand. Years ago, I worked as a waiter in a restaurant. I overheard two 30-something guys start talking about a 'tweeny' child performer who appeared on a local TV show called McDonald's Young Entertainers. Anyway, this conversation was about two or three years after the show ended. These two guys seemed to work in the entertainment/talent management industry. One guy said to the other, " So I told *****'s mum we need to sex that bitch up." To which the other guy loudly guffawed and said, "Yeah, she's got some nice tits on her now!"

  11. How the fuck did society manage before modern dental surgery? I had all four of my wisdom teeth out, under general anesthetic when I was 25..I can't imagine the chronic pain I would have to live with if I hadn't had my teeth safely removed.

  12. Never worked in a kitchen where the majority of employees didn't have some form of substance abuse issues. FOH isn't much better either. I've known so many waitresses with coke habits.

  13. Yeah, the restaurant trade is totally unhealthy. 1. Both kitchen and FOH staff work almost nocturnal hours and split shifts. 2. Because you're working when the rest of the population is relaxing, the only other people to hang-out with are your workmates. 3. What's a great way to take the edge off a shitty hospo job? Drugs and alcohol of course! Plus you'll probably become a smoker/vaper if you're not already.

  14. I used to do meth. Ive been clean from everything for awhile now but my 14 year old self beat this record by almost 24 hours. After 3 or 4 days ia usually when shadow people start which is simple hallucinations. The further you go they are alot more intense and realistic. Also staying awake is super hard even with the drug. Obviously im sure its different from no drugs but it's mainly the no sleep part that makes meth so crazy cuz after so many days awake you barely feel the drug anymore. It wouldn't suprise me if they gave this kid drugs considering the time it was.
